It's amazing to me. The first people I...I know. It's amazing to me. The first people I heard use the word "stigma" were the Toll Bros. when they said they would abandon plans for their 450 unit behemoth by the Carroll Street bridge if the Gowanus became a Superfund site -because of the stigma they said it would bring to their waterfront site. Funny, Toll Brothers didn't think at all about all the toxicity and pollution in the water and land. They wanted, and the City gave them, the spot rezoning to build and put a lot of people there with the canal AS IS. I guess the stigma has to do with Toll not being able to pull the wool over people's eyes anymore, and acknowledging the Gowanus for what it REALLY IS. A toxic soup, and not some luxurious waterfront real estate to charge a lot of money for. It's all about Toll's lost profits and their not being able to take the money and run strategy.Plow to Platehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08031459781522127675noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4810483957175720940.post-43688775220233089902009-06-23T13:44:53.838-04:002009-06-23T13:44:53.838-04:00I got a flier today stuck under my door that says:...I got a flier today stuck under my door that says:

"SUPERFUND IS NOT THE WAY - ThERE IS AN ALTERNATIVE PLAN"

join your friends and neighbors to hear how we can avoid the STIGMA of SUPERFUND STATUS.

Didn't mention the city at tall which makes them sound even less credible. They really need to drop this "stigma" thing cause absolutely no one I know and I know old timers and new comers sees this as a "stigma". only a good thing. plus everyone knows the city is broke!Donna D.noreply@blogger.com
