DUMBO! Get Ready to Fight! The Toll Brothers are trying to move in...

I rarely look to the the press for local news but this time I can't help myself. The Troll Brothers are now looking to annoy the people of DUMBO now with another unneccesary condo. Toll Brother V.P David Von Sprecklesen is all hot and bothered about clogging the open sky with another Toll Brothers montrosity. He says and I quote from The Brooklyn Paper article:“It’s a big vacant site — people would like to see some activity there,”. “Our goal is to have the whole process finished by April, and start building shortly thereafter.” He also mentioned that if there were no landsmarks commision they would just build over 12 stories. Hello! David! This site is located between two very important NYC bridges. This man just is crazy to build near the water no matter what! This is what they built in Williamsburg..BARF!

People of DUMBO get ready to rally!!!!!

I hope the neighborhood of DUMBO proves your assumptions wrong as far as what "people would like to see". Just give it up. Please. The condos in Brooklyn are festering and empty. Why are you so intent in littering the landscape?

Their DOB filing lists their building architect as a guy from Greenberg Farrow who's claim to fame is given as the architect for the first urban Home Depot stores.

Citizens of Brooklyn, are you prepared for this?

Thanks for that info anon..The Toll Brothers are known as the America's largest suburban home builder (McMansions mostly) so the Home Depot connection is fitting.

A chain builder chooses a chain
architect to build in one of Brooklyn's most historic waterfront areas now that is just WRONG!

Toll Brothers'David Von Sprekelsen is just full of "ideas," isn't he.

I only hope the people of DUMBO follow the lead of the Gowanus Canal area area and tell him "No Thanks."

SAD, SAD, SAD! Toll Brothers needs to get out of NYC. They have the WORST record. There's a website that just lists complaints and grievances about their work an how they do business. The SHIT they put Gowanus through. Their self-righteous arrogance is astounding. Oh, are they offering any "affordable housing" with this project? Or do they know everyone has seen through that disgusting ruse!

Not at all surprising. Toll is about nothing more than maximizing square foot profit. Everything else -- there actually is nothing else in their minds -- must be, by necessity, destroyed.

The presumption that people would rather see a Toll monstrosity (12 stories and higher!) rather than an empty lot and some sky and the bridges is nervy. David von S is probably one of the most hated people in Brooklyn.

The "people would like to see" line really struck me too...what people? The developers and the constuction companies...anyone on the payroll and then "people would" be left looking at another piece of crap condo!

The Toll Brothers made L Magazines list of "heroes & villians of 2009" as a villian of course..L Magazine.

The building you have pictured is The Edge, which is not a Toll Brothers development.
