Layers of Old.

My apartment is in the midst of a top to bottom renovation, it hasn't been touched since the early 70's and was crumbling around me. The window frames were crooked and half of them wouldn't stay open with out being propped up. The 100 plus year old floors sloped, the railing in the hall would fall down if you actually used it but loved it anyway. For the first time in my entire life I will be living in a renovated apartment with new fixtures and whatnot. It will feel weird.
The old brick under the drywall is beautiful and a cemented in fireplace was also found. This apartment has "good bones" as they say, feels good in there even ripped up!

Looks like you have asbestos - hope you have a permit!

Are you going to get any say in what gets done and how? Like leaving that brick exposed or wall color, etc.

no asbestos and loads of permits all over the place, inside outside in the hallway....and maryruth not much say but it will be nice to have functioning windows!!!

Hi Lisanne,
Can't wait to see the finished place.
I know it will look fabulous.
How much longer until it's done?

Are you doing the renovation or is your landlord? Hope you get what you want, my sister had this done and ended not to her liking. Good luck it looks like it will be cozy when done, I like old places.

The landlord is doing the reno but it's the workers that are doing a fantabulous job..it is amzaing at this point and i am nervous to drop paint on the new floors, there was something freeing about living in a dump that is huge, but i am not complaining, i guess i will just have to get a studio space now...or work something out!!! i want to burn all my old belongings cause they will look so shabby in this jewelbox.
